Antivirus Sentry

Antivirus Sentry

After seeing a flicker of originality with Antispy Knight, Scammers give us another boring fake antivirus program called Antivirus Sentry.

I’d try to write something original about Antivirus Sentry but the program is so generic and boring, I’m trying not to fall asleep. Even it’s constant pop ups are dull enough to send me to the Land of Nod.

If you can stay awake, you can try to manually remove Antivirus Sentry or you can take a nap and let Spyware Doctor remove it for you.

Antispy Knight

Antispy Knight

Antispy Knight is the latest fake antivirus program that you will want to get off your computer. The only thing Antispy Knight has going for it is that it’s website shows a picture of knight. This many not seem like a big deal for you but after seeing one fake antivirus website clone after the other, seeing something original brings joy into my dull little life.

A picture of a knight is where the originality ends, Antispy Knight will display the usual fake security pop ups in its quest to part you from your money.

You can manually remove Antispy Knight or you can use Spyware Doctor to remove it for you. Either way say good night to Antispy Knight.

Uninstall Office 2007 Trial Version

Posted October 27, 2008

At the PC repair place where I work, we often purchase new computers for businesses. Most of the time, these businesses also purchase Office 2007 to go along with their computer. It may surprise you to know that we always uninstall the Office 2007 trial version that comes preinstalled on the computer before we install Office 2007.

In theory, all you are meant to do is purchase a license key, type it into the Office trial, activate it and work with the full version of the Office software you have purchased. The truth is, it only works that way some of the time. We have had all sorts of problems ranging from the license key not being accepted to Office applications wanting to be activated every time you run them.

If you want to install Office 2007 on your computer, completely remove the trial version then reinstall Office 2007 with the Office 2007 CD. If you don’t have an Office 2007 CD on hand, contact Microsoft and they should provide one for you.

Whatever you do, don’t reinstall the Office 2007 trial version or enter your license onto an existing Office 2007 trial installation, the hassles of getting it to work are not worth it.

Don’t Use Windows Update to Install Hardware Drivers

Posted October 26, 2008

The Windows Update utility sometime lists drivers for your hardware as well as Windows patches. While it’s handy to get your drivers from one place, Windows Update doesn’t always list the right drivers for your computer.

I have seen people screw up their audio drivers because Windows Update listed the wrong ones and I have also had a few drivers that screwed up the Windows boot sequence.

If you are looking for drivers for your computer, look up your computer model from your computer maker’s website to find your drivers, or use the CD’s provided with your computer or hardware/peripheral.

Don’t rely on Windows Update for hardware drivers, it is right some of time but the wrong driver could give you minor to serious headaches.

Bunch of Antivirus 2009 Websites

Posted October 25, 2008

Antivirus 2009 continues it’s bid for world domination by unleashing another wave of browser hijacking websites which www.removeonline.com has found. Be sure to avoid and block Internetquarantinesite.com, Active-scanner.com, Protection-freescan.com and Antivirusfree-scan.com.

I love how all these websites say they are the “Official Antivirus 2009 Website”.

At this pace, 15% of all internet pages will be promoting Antivirus 2009 by the end of year.

If you keep being taken to these sites or are worried that they may have installed something on your computer, run a free scan of Spyware Doctor to see if there is anything nasty on your computer.

Antivirus Plus

Antivirus Plus

I’ve been getting comments from some people that Damn Trojan is a very negative website so starting with Antivirus Plus, I’ll only be positive in what I write.

Antivirus Plus, is, um, very nicely laid out, to bad it doesn’t do anything. Sorry, still trying to be positive about Antivirus Plus. I like how they have stolen the Windows shield to try and trick people into thinking it’s affiliated with Microsoft….

Stuff this, Antivirus Plus is bloody pain. They are just trying to get you to pay for the privilege of being infected. Your better off manually removing Antivirus Plus or getting Spyware Doctor which is something I can write positively about, to remove Antivirus Plus for you.
