Quite often, I get computers in for repair where I need to know internet passwords. When I can’t reach the client and the password has been stored on the computer, I use a free program called Asterisk Key.
When you have a password that’s saved on the computer, Windows shows it as a series of dots so no one can look over your shoulder and see what it is. Asterisk Key takes those dots shows you what the actual password is.
BE AWARE THAT THIS PROGRAM CAN BE USED FOR MALICOUS PURPOSES EVEN THOUGH IT IS A LEGITMATE PROGRAM. Asterisk Key is intended for use when you have forgotten a password that is stored on your computer.
Don’t use Asterisk Key if you use Norton Antivirus as it will delete the program without question. I’m unaware of other AV program other than Norton doing this.
