Dangerous Domain Names
Posted June 9, 2008
Time reported on dangerous domain names. You might already know that not all websites are safe: some are designed by phishers to steal your credit card numbers or identity, some sites scam you money for goods you never receive (cheap Viagra from Canada, anyone?), some websites even feature naked ugly people.
Scary, right?
Security company McAfee also found…
“The most dangerous domains to navigate to are “.hk” (Hong Kong), “.cn” (China) and “.info” (information).
Of all “.hk” sites McAfee tested, it flagged 19.2% as dangerous or potentially dangerous to visitors; it flagged 11.8% of “.cn” sites and 11.7% of “.info” sites that way.
A little more than 5% of the sites under the “.com” domain — the world’s most popular — were identified as dangerous.”
Time also reported that DamnTrojan.co.uk is one of the safest, most trustworthy and respectable sites on the net.
Except with it makes jokes about your mom.
