Slow Computer? Get more RAM
Posted December 4, 2008
When people’s computer begin run slowly, a lot of them think that it is time to replace it. Most of the time, all they really need is some more RAM as applications require more of it as they get upgraded. RAM is quite cheap at the moment and you’ll be surprised at what a difference it makes.
At the moment, the minimum amount of RAM I think you should have is the following.
Windows XP: 512Mb
Windows Vista: 1Gb
To find out how much RAM you have, right click on My Computer or Computer on Vista and hit properties.
Before you purchase RAM, check your computers documentation and find out what type of RAM your computer is running. If you are not a computer techie, take your computer into a PC Repair shop. They will be able to purchase the right type of RAM and install it safely.
